​Aerosucre 727 freighter crashes in Colombia

The aircraft reportedly was operating a flight from Puerto Carreno to Bogota when it went down shortly after takeoff.

A video posted on social media website YouTube purports to show the aircraft, registered HK-4544, failing to rotate and become airborne. It crosses the runway threshold just above the ground, and plows through a perimeter fence before flying out of the frame after failing to gain altitude.

Of the six crew aboard the jet, reports indicate that only one survived. The accident occurred in the late afternoon in clear conditions.

Flight Fleets Analyzer shows that HK-4544 bears MSN 21105. It entered service in 1975 as a passenger aircraft with Air jamaica where it served until 1997, at which point it was converted to a cargo configuration.

As a freighter, it served with Kitty Hawk Air cargo , MidAmerican Aerospace, before going to Aerosucre in 2008. Aerosucre is also listed as the aircraft’s manager.

Just over ten years ago, in November 2006, another Aerosucre 727F crashed after taking from Bogota, killing all five on-board.
